Your Guide to Pregnancy and Postnatal Practitioners in Cairns

Pregnancy and the postpartum are profound seasons of transformation. Whether you’re preparing to birth your baby, healing after birth, or finding your rhythm as a mother, the right support can make all the difference.

Cairns is home to a beautiful network of practitioners who can nurture you through this time. As a doula, I walk alongside women in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, helping them find care that truly supports their needs. Here’s a guide to some of the incredible services available to you.

*Note that this blog post focuses on practitioners in the city of Cairns, or those that are willing to travel to your home

Birth Education Classes cover the physiological process of birth, labour techniques, and birth support tools. Knowledge is power, but more than that, it’s about deepening trust in your body. Explore options that align with your values

Birth Debriefing gives you the opportunity to reflect on your birth experience to help you move forward and work through any birth related trauma. It’s especially important if you’ve had a previous birth to help you integrate your experience before you step into this next birth

Yoga, pilates, and other pre/postnatal exercise classes if you were already exercising pre-pregnancy, that’s fantastic, just keep doing what you’re doing and modify where you feel necessary, however if you would like some pregnancy/postpartum/mums and bubs specific classes:

Chiropractors help with musculoskeletal alignment and pain relief during pregnancy and postpartum, particularly related to pelvic misalignment, back pain, and sciatic nerve discomfort.

Pelvic Alignment and Internal Pelvic Release Work combines external alignment and internal release techniques to reduce pelvic pain, relieve deep hip pain and improve pelvic floor function

Acupuncturists help manage pregnancy symptoms (e.g., nausea, fatigue, pelvic pain) and provide support during postpartum recovery.

Massage Therapists/bodyworkers help to relieve muscle tension, promote circulation, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.

Osteopaths support women in pregnancy by using gentle, hands-on techniques to relieve pain, improve mobility, and optimise pelvic alignment

Nutritionists/Dietitians may also help with gestational diabetes, breastfeeding, and weight management.

Herbalists/Homeopathy provide herbal remedies and advice to support pregnancy, labour, and postpartum recovery (e.g., teas, tinctures, salves).

Naturopaths use herbal remedies, supplements, and dietary changes to support fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum

Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) are certified professionals who provide breastfeeding support, education, and troubleshooting for new mothers.

Birth, Maternity, and Newborn Photographers capture memories during this precious time

I believe that birth and postpartum should be an experience you look forward to - not something to fear. My work is about helping women step into their power, trust their bodies, and receive the care they deserve,

If you want to feel truly supported through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum - whether that’s through education, birth support, or nourishing postpartum care - I’d love to connect

Let’s build the village around you.
